Maybe I’m not a romantic type, but there are places and situations that are just right for delicate and ethereal fashion style :) Especially summer in Europe is the time I associate with laces, off-shoulder clothes and straw hat. It is a perfect background for South European cities. Nowhere outside of Europe you will find such a beautiful architecture, city walls that remember centuries of turbulent history and small streets where time seems to have frozen.
Dubrovnik is a city that has it all and much more. I love to walk around and soak up the beauty of this place. Today I take you for the walk on the top of the city walls. Strolling along them is one of the most interesting ways to explore the city from a different perspective. You can enjoy the views of the Old Town and the sea. Streets and monuments look like there were painted and you can see elements that remain invisible to the observer from the street level. The walls are stretched for nearly 2 km and are one of the best-preserved of its kind in the world.

The walls can be accessed from three sides. The entrance to the Pile Gate is the most popular. Another entrance is in the vicinity of the Bastion of St. John and the third on Svetogo Dominika street. Entrance costs 70 HRK for the adults and 30 HRK for children, youth up to 18 years old and students. During the summer season the walls are open between 8:00a.m. and 7 p.m.
If you start at the Pile gate and follow the clockwise direction, you will reach the Minčet tower, which the beautiful panorama of the northern part of the city. In the north-east part of the walls there is also Fort Revelin which was built in the 16th century. If you continue this trial you will reach St. Bastion. While going along the southern part of the defensive walls, pay attention to the beautiful view of Lokrum and the sea. Then, you will reach the next Bastion – Bokar, and from there you will see the entry point or Pile Gate. It is worth to visit to the last bastion outside the city walls – Fort Lovrijenac. The building was erected in the 14th century on a rocky island. Nowadays, Dubrovnik Summer Festival organize theatrical performances which give amazing atmosphere :)
